Welcome from the CHAC Alumni President

2022, a great year for CHAC Alumni

 Dr Sarah Reedman, President

Welcome to the 2022 CHAC Alumni Year in Review Newsletter. Since our last newsletter, before COVID-19 hit, quite a lot has changed in the world of the CHAC Alumni. Being an event-driven organisation, we were hit hard by COVID-19; however, we were able to persevere and deliver some amazing initiatives to our community.

Since our last newsletter, CHAC Alumni:

  • Expanded our reunion offerings with a One Year reunion, meaning we now run three reunions per year.
  • Focused on engaging current students with our alumni through university seminars and alumni talks. One that began in 2022 was a financial literacy presentation for Year 12 students delivered by a member of CHAC Alumni.
  • Awarded five Year 11 students bursaries of $1,000 across three years to allow them to complete opportunities they wouldn’t have otherwise been able to do.
  • Sponsored more items for CHAC’s senior students as they transition into alumni, such as a yearbook and Honours Assembly presents. Both serve as great recruitment opportunities for the executive committee.

On top of this, the committee underwent a major structure and governance update which resulted in  the rebrand from “CHAC PSA” to “CHAC Alumni”. This has future-proofed our committee and its executives. We also re-wrote our strategic plan for the next five years which sorts and simplifies our operations into three key areas – past students, current students, and the College. This will allow us to improve new and existing offerings to each of these groups.

In 2023, we aim to host a range of events for our alumni such as an Alumni Trivia Night in addition to our three reunions. We’ll also continue to host panels for current students utilising our alumni.

If you would like to get in touch with the committee, please do not hesitate to reach out via email ([email protected]) or get in touch via one of our social media platforms.
